Mind Games

What kinds of things are you thinking about?  What fills your mind?  Whatever we think about will be reflected in our lives.  Our mind is one of Satan's primary targets.  He knows that if we allow the thoughts that he places in our heads to take up any space at all, he can stake his claim and bring along lots more of the same to store with them.  We can't allow him any space at all!  Sometimes we open the door to him without realizing it through the things that we watch on TV, through the books and magazines we read, the music we listen to, places we go, activities we are involved in, or even conversations we have with other people.

How do we combat his subtle attacks?  Know God's Word!  We learn God's word by reading and studying it.  We commit it to memory, so that when those thoughts come into our heads, that Word will come to our remembrance and we can quote scripture to Satan.  2 Corinthians 10:5 speaks of "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ."

I love spending time in my Bible.  I have found that the more I read it, the more I want to read it.  I really miss it when I miss a day or two of my Bible time.  I'm always amazed that no matter how many times I read it, there is something that I didn't remember reading before.  It stays fresh and new, and I learn so much each and every time.  I challenge you to begin with 10 minutes each day to read your Bible.  Meditate on what it says.  It will transform your life and renew your mind.

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."  Phillipians 4:8 KJV
