Monday and Your Great Name

I've determined that Mondays are one of the busiest days of the week for Satan.  Why? I think it's because so many Christians have been on the mountain top I wrote about a couple of weeks ago, on Sunday.. We've been to church to get refueled and feel all strong in our faith, formidable opponents against Satan...we think; that is until he comes knocking on our doors first thing Monday morning. How do we answer? The problem is that most times we don't recognize the source of the attacks.  We tend to think of them as just having a bad day.

After our recent ladies retreat, I returned home very excited about what the Lord was doing in my own life, and in the lives of the other women.  I was on a high about the new direction of Women's Ministry.  The Holy Spirit had spoken vision into my heart on the drive home alone.  I couldn't wait to get started!  Then came the morning!  Satan knocked on my door that morning as a welcome friend.  I didn't recognize him, because he was a wolf in sheep's clothing. He was out to take me to the ground. By the end of the day, I was so hurt and defeated, I didn't have an ounce of strength left to share with Charles what had happened that day.  I had cried all day long.  It completely wiped me out that day.  Later that evening, I was sitting in my car, reflecting over the events of the day.  Still weak with heartache, it suddenly occurred to me what someone had said at the retreat about how Satan would be waiting on us when we got back home.  I got angry! I started yelling at Satan!  I prayed to God for forgiveness in allowing the devil to have had that much of my time.  I prayed for protection from him and for strength and wisdom for the future.  I reminded Satan that I don't belong to him and he has no power in my life.

Satan attempts to steal and destroy.  We have to arm ourselves to be ready for him.  A soldier would never go into battle unprotected. We must always be alert and on watch for the enemy.  Ephesians 6: 10-18

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

The very name of "Jesus" is powerful!  The enemy has to flee at the sound of it.  Demons tremble at the name of Jesus.  We should speak his name often and with confidence, realizing that there is power in that name for believers.

"Your Great Name" by Natalie Grant is one of my favorite songs.  Listen to the words and let them resonate in your heart.

When Satan comes knocking on your door today or any other day, speak the name of Jesus right back to him.  He will be forced to turn around on his heels and run in the other direction, at least until he can come up with a new scheme.  Don't let down your guard.  Stand strong!
