WMW August 29-Last Call

LAST CALL FOR SMALL GROUPS

Susie Toomey, Discipleship Coordinator
Our Small Group leaders have messages for you:

Martha Rhoton
BOOK STUDY: THIS TUESDAY!!! TIME CORRECTION: MEET AT 6:30. LifeWay has 6 more copies of the book One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. We begin our study this coming Tuesday, September 4. All you need to do is to get a copy of the book and read the first TWO chapters. Don't stop with the first one!!! Her writing style is "different" and if you are like me, you will be hooked after the second chapter! We will read two chapters for each week. NO MORE please. We will discuss these chapters. We will meet at my home, 601 West Valley View Circle, Kpt, TN 37664, behind Indian Springs Elementary School. E-mail me at rhotonm@hotmail.com, call 323-5924, or just bring your book and come. Of course you can use electronic books, too. Hope to see you there.

Teresa Reynolds
At Glenwood on Wednesday nights, we're doing a DVD study by Kelly Minter on Nehemiah. It's a rich lesson with many themes and applications such as: vision, prayer, compassion, opposition, and rebuilding. "Challenging" is the best way to describe it! 6:00-7:30 in room 200. Books are $6.50. It isn't too late to join us, so come on down. tkreynolds1234@yahoo.com

Jeni Morelock
Our group is amazing! Not a Fan is a personally convicting study about being a follower of Christ and not a fan. Pastor Roc talked about Twitter and how we follow people on there by simply pressing a button. That is a very good analogy and that's what we are learning, how not to simply be a person saying" I'm a follower." We welcome you to our group. We meet at the Hill Rd. Campus on Wednesday evenings in room 215. 357-5050 jenimoelock@hotmail.com

Brandy Kisner
Clean Eating Class..starts Thursday Sept 13th at 6:30 and will run for 6 weeks. We will be learning how to eat foods the way God created them, how to read labels, make wise choices, and how to “clean up” our favorite recipes. We will be going on a grocery store field trip and trying and cooking new foods. We will talk about certain power foods and how your food works to benefit your body. I look forward to seeing everyone there!!! I have a couple more spots open, so let me know if you want one. 390 Grandview Ct, Kingsport, 782-8005. kisnerct@charter.net

Glenna Bartley
Be a Biblical Detective We will be learning different methods of how to study God's Word. Using a Bible dictionary, almanac, maps, concordance, and other tools, we will travel through biblical history and grow in the knowledge of God. We are meeting at my house, 1305 Dupont Drive, Kingsport, on Tuesday mornings at 9:30. Call me at 429-5455 or e-mail me at glennabartley@gmail.com and let me know you are coming. You are welcome to come and join us.

Jackie Mumpower We are doing a book study, Authentic Relationships, which deals with how to be real in an artificial world. You can pick up a book at Lifeway. Starting on Mondays at 6:45, we are meeting in my home, 306 Stone Ct., Kingsport. Won't you join me? mailto:mumpowerj@wcde.org

This will include how to make people feel welcome in your home, how to properly set a table, etiquette for dining out or in a business setting, learning basic floral design and creative tablescapes, and decorating for the holidays. The first class will meet on Tuesday, September 11th, at 6:30. Thereafter, we will be meeting on Monday evenings at 6:30. The evening class is full, but I will be happy to have a Tuesday morning one, if there is enough interest. We have collected some but not nearly enough, shoes and socks. We still have time, so please remember to bring them and drop them in the collection boxes, available at both campuses. We need volunteers for Friday, Sept. 21st at 1 PM to help set-up and also on Saturday, Sept. 22nd , 12:30 – 4:00 PM for distribution. The distribution will actually begin at 1:00 PM and continue until 3:00 PM. I’m allowing an hour for clean-up following. sherfeym@comcast.net 323-2187.

FIT FOR THE KING 5K RACE/3K WALK/KIDS' RUN/KIDS' DASH

Pam Archer, Race Director
I cannot overemphasize the importance of getting pre-registered for the race, walk, and kid's races, and making your meal reservations for you and/or your family for this event on Sunday, September 16th. Though you can register the day of the event, it makes planning difficult when we don't have a good estimate of how many people to prepare for. Fire Crew Barbeque is preparing a wonderful meal for us. You don't have to participate in the events to eat, but we still need to know if you are coming. We need people to cheer the participants on along the course.

I am very excited about the race this year! We Run Events will be managing it for us again. The t-shirts are going to be very nice. A t-shirt is included in the $20 race fee, and a few will be available for sale for anyone who would like to have one. They will be $8-$10, depending on the size, however we cannot guarantee t-shirts on the day of the race without your reservation and size. BIG NEWS: We will be giving away a flat screen TV, along with other nice door prizes to those who participate in the race or walks, so dust off your shoes and get out there and just do it! You can register for the 5K at the Women's Ministry table at both campuses, or by printing a copy of the waiver at isbc.org, or go to active.com if you prefer to register by credit card. For the 3K Walk and Kids' events, we need a race form and waiver for you as well. You cannot register for the 3K with active.com. You will need to print the form or do it at church. We need waivers for each child as well. If we have a waiver, you are automatically included in the meal count. For other meal reservations, call the church receptionist at 323-2187. This is a great event. Bring your friends and family, too. There will be inflatables for the kids, and volunteers to monitor them.

HOLIDAY DINNER UPDATE

Saturday evening, November 17th at MeadowView. We need 7 more table hostesses. Linens, dishes, flatware, and glasses are provided by MeadowView, or you can bring your own. All you need to do is a tablescape and a small favor for your table guests. Call or e-mail Pam Archer, 292-9418 afcpam@gmail.com (You get a free ticket for hosting.)

Women's Ministry Wednesday-April 25

The main event happening this week is a seminar, led by Jeni Morelock.  40 women have already signed up to learn and discuss how to make time for our husbands, how to love him like God wants us to, how to meet his needs physically and emotionally, and how to fall in love with him all over again.  This will be a blessing to you and to him.  All you need to do is make this Saturday a priority.

"Embracing Your Husband" this Saturday at our Glenwood Campus, in the Sanctuary. It will begin promptly at 9:00 am - 2:00 pm.  Lunch will be provided.  FREE

Also at the Glenwood Campus Saturday morning is our Zumba class, led by Rachel O'Dell.  Cost is $3.  This is a one-hour class, beginning at 9:00.  Meet in the fellowship hall.

Have you purchased your ticket/s for the Country Spring Fling yet?  It's only $5 and includes lunch and a fun time of fellowship.  All this is happening at Allandale Barn on Saturday, May 12th from 11:30-2:00.  It is for females of all ages, so bring a car load, bus load, or two-seater bike down to Allandale, wearing your country finest.  This is our Spring Tea event, so don't miss out.  Tickets are on sale in the church foyer on Sundays.

Planning will begin very soon for our 2012 annual Fit for the King 5krace/walk/kids' run., to be held Sunday, September 16th.  Several hundred people from all over the area participate in this event, so we will need many volunteers to help with registrations, manning the water stations and race course, and dozens of other things.  There will be a volunteer sign-up sheet at the Women's Ministry table in the church foyer, beginning this Sunday.  We need YOU!
